House Passes Bill to Create a National Manufacturing Strategy

Released July 29, 2010

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill this week that would establish a national Manufacturing Strategy Board to analyze the state of the U.S. manufacturing industry and would advise the president and U.S. Congress on issues affecting that sector of the economy. The bill passed by a vote of 379-38.

The bill, part of the Democrats’ ‘Make It In America’ strategy, also would require the president to submit a manufacturing strategy policy plan to Congress by July of the second year of each presidential term.
