U.S. Senate Republicans Released February 2, 2010 U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), ranking member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, is working to block the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ruling that greenhouse gases endanger human health and welfare. She plans to introduce a resolution that would halt the agency’s efforts to finalize two major climate regulations—the Greenhouse Gas Tailoring Rule and the Vehicle Rule—due out by March. While a resolution blocking EPA action to regulate greenhouse gas emissions could circumvent normal committee procedures, it would still need to pass the House and Senate by simple majorities. President Obama would likely veto the measure. For more information, contact Stephanie Salmon, Metalcasters Alliance for Government Affairs Washington Office, at ss@wafed.com or 202/842-4864. |
